BOSTON, Mass. – The Roger Williams University women's tennis team swept doubles play and did not drop a set in singles play as the Hawks defeated Wentworth, 9-0, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Harvard University's Beren Tennis Center.

Sophomore Lauren Schmidt (South Windsor, Conn.) teamed with junior Alexandra Brown (Kennett, Mo.) to take an 8-0 win at number two over senior Deborah Massaro (Stony Point, N.Y.) and sophomore Nicole McColgan (Tewksbury, Mass.). Seniors Samantha Curran (Cumberland, R.I.) and Hillary Dutton (Cheshire, Conn.) recorded an 8-2 win at number one over sophomore Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) and junior Virginia Ofer (Cooperstown, N.Y.). The number three pairing of freshman Emma Limburg (New London, N.H.) and sophomore Adrianna Maconochie (Easton, Conn.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over senior Olivia Hegner (Medford, Mass.) and junior Val Maccarone (Cranston, R.I.).

Brown swept Ofer, 6-0, 6-0, to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead before Dutton defeated Massaro, 6-0, 6-1 at number two to clinch the match for Roger Williams.

Senior Alexandra Reilly (North Easton, Mass.) posted a 6-0, 6-1 win at number five over junior Marisa Page (Warwick, R.I.), freshman Hailey Kaiserman (Setauket, N.Y.) had a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Hegner at number six, and Schmidt won at number three over McColgan, 6-0, 6-1. Curran completed the Hawks' sweep with a 7-6 (7-2), 6-2 win at number one over Corcoran.

With the win the Hawks improve to 7-4 overall and 5-1 in CCC play. Roger Williams is at Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday. The Leopards see their three-match win streak come to an end, falling to 5-5 (2-4). Wentworth hosts Salve Regina Monday afternoon.
