MILTON, Mass. – The Gordon College women's tennis team picked up its second win in its last three matches and moved to 2-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play with a 9-0 win over Wentworth Institute of Technology in a match played at Curry College.

The Fighting Scots improve to 2-3 overall while the Leopards slip to 1-5 (0-3 CCC).

Junior Tawnie Yeaw (Foothill Ranch, Calif.) teamed with freshman Sophie Linnell (Richmond, Va.) to take an 8-2 win at number one doubles over Leopard juniors Caitlin Corcoran (Brockton, Mass.) and Nicole McColgan (Tewksbury, Mass.). Sophomore Abby Carron (Bedford, N.H.) and freshman Alexa Didomizio (Mahwah, N.J.) gave Gordon a 2-0 lead with an 8-2 win over Wentworth juniors Laura Boyd (Woodstock, Vt.) and Nicole Mooney (Waterford, Conn.) before junior Lily Drescher (Reading, Mass.) and freshman Nathalia Moran (Lake Villa, Ill.) defeated Leopard freshmen Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) and Emily Jodoin (Burrillville, R.I.), 8-6, ay number one.

Moran defeated Boyd, 6-3, 6-3, at number five and Caron's 7-5, 6-0 win over Jodoin at number four clinched the match for the Fighting Scots.

Didomizio earned a 6-2, 6-1 triumph over Mooney at number six, Drescher defeated Briggs, 6-3, 7-5, at number three, and Linnell won, 7-5, 6-3 over McColgan at number two. Corcoran defeated Yeaw 7-6 (7-3) in the opening set before Yeaw used a 6-2 win in the second set to force a third set, which she won, 10-8, to complete the sweep.

Both teams continue CCC play on Wednesday as the Leopards host Curry at Harvard University and the Fighting Scots host Endicott.
