Women's Tennis Concludes Fall Season

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team saw the fall portion of its season come to an end with a 6-0 loss to Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played at the Bass River Tennis Club.

With the win the Gulls improve to 10-2 overall and will be the number one seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament after finishing conference play with an 8-0 mark. The Leopards fall to 3-10 overall and complete league play with a 1-7 mark.

In doubles play, freshmen Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) and Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine) took an 8-0 win at No. 2 over senior Nicole McColgan (Tewksbury, Mass.) and freshman Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.). No. 3 doubles saw freshmen Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) and Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) win, 8-0, over senior Nicole Mooney (Waterford, Conn.) and freshman Kelsey DeGouveia (New Bedford, Mass.). Sophomore Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) and junior Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) rounded out doubles play with an 8-3 win at No. 1 over sophomores Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) and Emily Jodoin (Burrillville, R.I.).

Barnett defeated Briggs at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, while Andersen defeated McColgan at No. 2 by the same score and freshman Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) defeated Mooney, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4.
