Nichols Sweeps Women's Tennis

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to Nichols College on Tuesday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference play.

With the win the Bison improve to 6-3 overall and 4-0 in CCC play while the Leopards slip to 1-7 (1-5).

In doubles play, freshman Isabelle Leonardi (North Hampton, N.H.) and junior Ashley Dallaire (East Bridgewater, Mass.) took an 8-0 decision from sophomores Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.) and Kelsey DeGouveia (New Bedford, Mass.) at No. 3. At No. 2, senior Cristina Szepanski (Windsor Locks, Conn.) and freshman Lindsey Kaplan (Boca Raton, Fla.) defeated freshman Olivia DeLuca (Dracut, Mass.) and junior Emily Jodoin (Burrillville, R.I.), 8-0. Freshmen Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) and Danielle Mandel (Fair Lawn, N.J.) defeated juniors Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) and Sam Web (Duxbury, Mass.).

Singles play saw Kaplan defeat at Jodoin at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0 before freshman Megan Nathanson (Scarborough, Maine) clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-0 win over DeLcua at No. 2. Settiwongse bested Briggs at No. 1, 6-1, 6-0; Dallaire earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Butts at No. 5, Szepanski defeated Webb, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 4, and Kristina Domantas (Holden, Mass.) completed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 win over DeGouveia at No. 6.

Wentworth is at Suffolk on Thursday night.
