Women's Tennis Doubled up by Suffolk

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – After taking a 2-1 lead at the conclusion of doubles play, the Suffolk University women's tennis team took four out of six singles matches to claim a 6-3 victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in a non-conference match at Bucking Browne & Nichols.

With the win the Rams improve to 2-6 while the Leopards slip to 1-8.

Aidiana Sagyndykova and Elena Cisneros Garcia teamed up for an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over freshman Olivia DeLuca (Andover, Mass.) and junior Emily Jodoin (Burrillville, R.I.). At No.1 doubles, Valentina Medina and Isabel Rathlev defeated juniors Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.) and Sam Webb (Duxbury, Mass.), 8-2. Wentworth picked up a point at No. 3 when sophomores Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.) and Veronica Monteiro (North Andover, Mass.) defeated Christina Texidor and Meagan French, 9-7.

Sagyndykova defeated Briggs at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, to make it 3-1 in favor of Suffolk. Valentina Media gave Suffolk a 4-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win over DeLuca at No. 2. Jacquelyn Nakamura clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over sophomore Kelsey DeGouveia (New Bedford, Mass.).

Webb defeated Johanna Sitahal, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 4 and Danlyn Medou handed Butts a 6-2, 6-0 defeat at No. 5. Joidoin closed out the match with a 6-4, 2-6, 10-8 win over Elena Cisneros Garcia at No. 3.

Wentworth hosts Curry on Saturday.
