Women's Tennis Doubled up by Regis

BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team concluded the dual match portion of its 2017-2018 season with a 6-3 loss at Regis in non-conference action Thursday afternoon.

With the win the Pride improve to 9-5 while the Leopards fall to 3-12.

Doubles play saw Regis take two of three matches. The No. 3 team of freshman Carly Donovan (Harwich, Mass.) and freshman Gracie Jarest (Wrentham, Mass.) defeated freshman Beverly LaChapelle (Caracas, Venezuela) and senior Mackenzie Jones (Granville, Mass.), 8-0. Wentworth evened the match at 1-all when senior Emily Jodoin (Attleboro, Mass.) and junior Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.) won at No. 2, 8-4, over senior Amy DiPace (Cambridge, Mass.) and senior Sara Kanarkiewicz (Peabody, Mass.). The Pride regained the lead with a 9-7 lead at No. 1 as junior Katasha Jarvis (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) teamed with sophomore Ariana McCormack (Peabody, Mass.) to defeat freshman Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Caitlyn Briggs (Lee, Mass.).

Kanarkiewicz upped the lead to 3-1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over LaChapelle at No. 5 before Briggs made it 3-2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jarvis at No. 2. McCormack put the Pride on the brink of clinching the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jodoin at No. 3 before Jarest clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Jones at No. 6.

Sollecito wrapped up dual match play with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Donovan. For Sollecito, it was her 10th triumph of the season (10-5), tying her for second-most in a single season in program history. DiPace defeated Butts, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4.
