Women's Tennis Swept by Nichols

WESTON, Mass. – The Nichols College women's tennis team upped its record to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play as the Bison defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 9-0, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match played at the Regis Tennis Courts.

The Bison jumped on the board with an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles as juniors Megan Nathanson (Scarborough, Maine) and Rachel McDonald (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) defeated junior Olivia DeLuca (Dracut, Mass.) and sophomore Hannah Erickson (Columbia, Conn.), 8-0. At No. 3, senior Alanna Judd (Westborough, Mass.) teamed with junior Lindsey Kaplan (Boca Raton, Fla.) to earn and 8-1 win over sophomores Beverly LaChapelle (Caracas, Venezuela) and CiCi Deakin (Standish, Maine). The No. 1 doubles tandem of juniors Amarie Settiwongse (Bangkok, Thailand) and Isabelle Leonardi (North Hampton, N.H.) completed the sweep with an 8-3 win over sophomore Alli Sollectio (Taunton, Mass.) and senior Ellen Butts (Brookfield, Mass.), 8-3.

Sophomore Juliana Herrera (Villavicencio, Columbia) gave Nichols a 4-0 lead when she defeated Deakin at No. 5 singles, 6-0, 6-0, before Nathanson's 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 over LaChapelle clinched the match. Junior Danielle Mandel (Fair Lawn, N.J.) defeated Erickson, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 6, Leonardi bested DeLuca at No. 3, 6-0, 6-1, freshman Kara Stankewitz (Cologne, Germany) defeated Butts, 6-0, 6-3, at No. 2, and Settiwongse won at No. 1, 6-0, 6-1, over Sollecito.

Wentworth (0-7, 0-3) is at Gordon on Tuesday.
