Endicott Tops Women's Tennis

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by Endicott College in Commonwealth Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Endicott freshman Ashley Keaveney (Exeter, N.H.) and sophomore Cara McCormick (Worcester, Mass.) got the hosts on the board with an 8-0 win over juniors Hannah Erickson (Columba, Conn.) and CiCi Deakin (Standish, Maine) at No. 3 doubles. Junior Cameron Foley (Lynnfield, Mass.) teamed with freshman Olivia Berler (Marstons Mills, Mass.) to pick up an 8-3 win at No. 2 over junior Oliva DeLuca (Dunstable, Mass.) and senior Sam McGibbon (Pembroke, Mass.). Sophomore Justine Hoover (Wallingford, Conn.) and junior Gretta Hartman (Glastonbury, Conn.) completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 1 over junior Ali Sollecito (Taunton, Mass.) and freshman Morgan Collins (Warwick, R.I.).
  • Keaveney put the Gulls ahead, 4-0, with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Collins at No. 4 before Berler's 6-0, 6-1 win over McGibbon at No. 3 clinched the match for the hosts.
  • Hartman defeated DeLuca, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 2, junior Clare O'Keefe (Lutz, Fla.) was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Deakin at No. 6, junior Jen Stone (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) picked up a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Erickson at No. 5, and Hoover defeated Sollecito at No. 1, 6-3, 6-3.
