Women's Volleyball Tames Lions

QUINCY, Mass. – Junior Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) recorded 14 kills and eight digs and sophomore Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) had eight kills and 15 digs as the Wentworth women's volleyball team evened its record at 9-9 with a 3-1 win at Eastern Nazarene.

The Leopards, who have won three of their last four and four of their last six, took a 1-0 lead with a 25-18 win in the opening set, a set that saw Wentworth force Lion attack errors. Eastern Nazarene turned the tables in the second set, evening the match at a set apiece with a 25-15 win. The Leopards were held to a .000 attck percentage while the Lions hit .310 as a team.

Wentworth claimed the third set by hitting a team-high .208 and taking a 25-18 win before closing out the match with a 25-15 win in the fourth set.

Senior Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) had seven kills, six digs, four aces, and three blocks, while sophomore Mary Horgan (Mahwah, N.J.) had 26 assists, three aces, and six digs.

For Eastern Nazarene freshman Birdina Tuiava (Colorado Springs, Colo.) had 21 assists, 13 digs and six kills while classmate Kortney Jenkins (Bunker Hill, West Va.) added six kills and seven digs.

Wentworth climbs above the .500 mark (2-1) in Commonwealth Coast Conference play and travels to Western New England on Tuesday night. That same night, Eastern Nazarene (7-9, 1-3) hosts Salve Regina.
