Women's Volleyball Notches Fourth Straight Win

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. – Graduate student Michelle Hobbs (Northwood, N.H.) notched seven kills, five digs and four service aces to lead Wentworth to a 3-0 non-league college volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-3, 25-5 and 25-15 in a match played Thursday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.

Freshman Kayla Gendreau (Hudson, N.H.) added six kills and two service aces in the win for the visiting Leopards (13-9), who also received five kills each from junior Hannah Bailey (Plymouth, Mass.) and freshman Sydney Meyers (Arnold, Md.).  Senior Shannon Ponce (San Jose, Calif.) registered 30 set assists for Wentworth, which also received six digs and three service aces from senior Sam Curran (Quincy, Mass.).

Senior Deb Langley (Abington, Mass.) recorded three kills and five digs in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-21), who also received a pair of kills from sophomore Cassidy Nice (Carver, Mass.) and two set assists from sophomore Emma Ethier (Norton, Mass.).  Sophomore Stephanie O'Connor (Westwood, Mass.) chipped in with nine digs for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received seven digs from senior Meghan Weir (North Andover, Mass.) to go with a set assist and dig from fellow senior Lauren O'Shaughnessy (Yarmouth Port, Mass.).

Massachusetts Maritime heads to Westfield, Mass. on Saturday morning to take on Westfield State and Pine Manor in a tri-match beginning at 11:00 a.m., while Wentworth hosts Roger Williams in a Commonwealth Coast Conference clash on Saturday afternoon in Boston that begins at 3:30 p.m.
