Women's Volleyball Runs Win Streak to Four

BOSTON, Mass. – Continuing its best start in program history, the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team ran its win streak to four matched with a pair of 3-0 victories over Lesley and Worcester State.

In the middle match of the day, Worcester State defeated Lesley, 3-0.

WENTWORTH 3, LESLEY 0
In the opening set Wentworth took a 25-13 win after forcing Lesley to hit -.077. The Leopards used a 6-0 run to extend their lead from 5-3 to 11-3 on the strength of junior Katelyn Carlson's (Stratford, Conn.) serving. The Lynx pulled within five at 13-8, however would get no closer as a 12-5 spurt clinched the set for the hosts. Freshman Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, Calif.) had a pair of kills in the set and sophomore Lillie Clark (Vista, Calif.) had two aces.

Wentworth fell behind 8-6 in the second set, however used a 10-0 run to take the lead for good at 16-8. Nine of those points came while freshman Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.) was on the service line. Carlson and Quick had two kills apiece in the set and Rogoz served four aces which all came during the run.

The Leopards led from start to finish in the third set, scoring eight of the first nine points of the set. Freshman Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H.) served six straight points with five of those points coming via service ace. Junior Caroline Shea (Abington, Mass.) had five kills and Rogoz added four kills.

Rogoz and Shea finished with six kills apiece while Carlson added five and Quick had four. Cambray and Rogoz had five and for aces, respectively. Freshman Katie Clouse (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) had 11 assists and a pair of aces while Clark had three aces and six digs.

Hitting .440 and forcing the visitors to hit -.044 in the opening set, Wentworth took a 25-10 win. Leading 18-10, Clark served the final seven points of the set, ending the frame on a service ace. Rogoz had four kills and Quick had three kills on three swings without making an error.

The Lancers took a 6-3 lead to open the second set, however a Rogoz kill made it 6-4 and Carlson followed by serving the next eight points to give the hosts a 12-6 lead. Worcester State pulled within three by scoring the next three points and would get within three on two more occasions, however Wentworth used an 8-3 spurt and ended the second set on a freshman Samantha Lassiter (Rogers, Ark.) kill. Rogoz had three kills in the set with Carlson and Shea adding two apiece. Lassiter and Carlson each served two aces.

To open the third set there were seven ties before an attack error and a Clouse service ace made it 9-7 in favor of Wentworth. It would be a lead the Leopards would not relinquish as the Black & Gold closed out the match with a 25-15 win. Rogoz had four kills while Lassiter added three on four swings without an error. Wentworth hit a .393 in the set.

Rogoz finished with 11 kills and added a pair of blocks while Shea had six on 13 swings without making an error. Lassiter and Quick had five kills each. Lassiter had seven attempts and didn't make an error while also adding three blocks and she, Clark and Quick also had three aces. Clouse and Carlson had 15 and 12 assists, respectively and Clark had 10 digs.

Standing at 9-1, Wentworth is at Suffolk on Tuesday.
