BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, Calif.) recorded nine kills and served three aces to help pace the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Daniel Webster in non-conference action at Tansey Gymnasium.

Wentworth found itself down 5-3 in the opening set before rolling off four straight points, capped off by a service ace from junior Katelyn Carlson (Stratford, Conn.). Daniel Webster came back to tie the set at 9-all after a service error, however the Leopards took the lead for good on a block from junior Caroline Shea (Abington, Mass.) and senior Stephanie Nihan (Dracut, Mass.). That point began a 12-1 run with freshman Katie Clouse (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) serving for four points and classmate Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.) serving for seven points. Wentworth took the opening set, 25-12. Rogoz and Quick had three kills each and Nihan added two kills and two blocks. Wentworth hit .391 in the set. Daniel Webster tied the score at 6-all on a block from Koehler and junior Nicole Beard (Shelton, Conn.) however a 6-3 spurt gave Wentworth a 12-9 lead after an attack error. The Leopards extended their lead to as many as seven at 18-11 and took a 23-14 lead on a Quick kill. Daniel Webster used a 7-1 run and trimmed the lead to 24-21 on a junior Amanda Gendron (Mont Vernon, N.H.) ace, but a kill from Rogoz ended the set at 25-21. Daniel Webster jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the third set thanks in part to three kills from Koehler. The Leopards clawed their way back and tied the score at 10-all on a kill from Quick. After a Hoffman kill and a Gendron ace made 12-10, Wentworth rolled off four straight points to make it 14-12 on a Carlson kill. The score would be tied three more times, including at 18-all after a Gendron kill. Scoring the next three points, the Black & Gold took a 21-18 lead on a freshman Lexie Cambray ace. A service error and an ace from senior Madeline Roulier (Pittsfield, Mass.) made it 21-20, however Wentworth ended the match with four straight points.
