Quick, Chen Honored by CCC

BOSTON, Mass. – After posting a 3-0 record on the week and helping the Leopards run their best start in program history to 7-0, two members of the Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team have been honored by the Commonwealth Coast Conference. Sophomore Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, Calif.) was named the league's player of the week while freshman Kayla Chen (Irvine, Calif.) earned CCC Rookie of the Week honors. The accolades came for matches played from September 4-September 10.

Quick was instrumental in the Leopards' 3-0 week as she averaged 2.55 kills, 4.27 digs, and 0.82 aces per set. She recorded a pair of double-doubles on the week, including a 13-kill, 20-dig effort in a 3-2 win over WPI. In a 3-0 triumph over Mount Ida, she served eight aces with seven of those aces coming during a 23-point run after she recorded a kill to put herself on the service line.

In seven matches (26 sets), Quick is averaging 2.73 kills and 3.08 digs per set while hitting .297.

Chen averaged 6.18 assists, 0.55 aces, and 2.00 digs per set. She had a double-double in a 3-2 win over WPI with 29 assists and 13 digs while also serving four aces in that match and rounded out the week with 21 assists in a 3-0 win over Mount Ida.

In seven matches (24 sets), Chen is averaging 4.92 assists, 1.79 digs, and 0.54 service aces per set. Her 13 aces lead the team.

Wentworth hosts Lasell on Tuesday night.
