Women's Volleyball Downs UNE in Four Sets

BIDDEFORD, Maine – Juniors Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.), Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Katie Clouse (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) each posted a double-double to lead the Wentworth women's volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over the University of New England on Tuesday evening.

The Leopards win their fifth straight match and improve to 11-2overall and 2-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action, while the Nor'easters drop to 4-9 this season and 1-2 against league opponents.

The Nor'easters opened up the match with a 25-22 victory in the first set, but Wentworth bounced back and took three straight by set scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-19.

Rogoz recorded her sixth straight double-double and eighth of the year with a match-high 17 kills and 18 digs, and now has 166 kills on the season, leading all players in the conference in that category. Quick registered 16 kills and 12 digs for her third double-double, while Clouse's 24 assists and 12 digs mark her third of the season as well. Classmate Maddy Tomastik (Portland, Ore.) split setter duties with Clouse and dished out 21 assists in the win.

Junior Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H.) paced the solid defensive showing with 27 digs in the win, leading all players on the court. The Leopards swung into eight aces as a team compared to UNE's six, paced by junior Samantha Lassiter (Rogers, Ark.) who had three overall.

Two Nor'easters reached double digits in kills, as senior Rene Roggenbuck (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior Katie Flynn (Merrimack, N.H.) had 12 and 11, respectively. UNE owned an 9-5 advantage on the block, led by Roggenbuck's six assisted blocks, while sophomore Molly Camelo (Melrose, Mass.) and junior Katie Marsh (Melbourne, Australia) each hit the floor for 19 digs.

Wentworth travels to Roger Williams University for a 7:00 p.m. league match.
