Women's Volleyball Finishes Regular Season with Non-Conference Split

FITCHBURG, Mass. – The Wentworth Institute of Technology women's volleyball team concluded the regular season with a non-conference split against Fitchburg and Worcester State on Friday evening inside Parkinson Gymnasium.

The Leopards finish at 22-4 overall, and begin Commonwealth Coast Conference play next Tuesday, October 30th.

Match One: Worcester State 3, Wentworth 0 (25-15, 25-11, 25-23)

The Leopards dropped a straight-set decision to a strong Worcester State team, as the Lancers hit .305 in route to its 20th victory of the season. The Lancers were led by senior Amari King (Lawrence, Mass./Lawrence) with 19 digs, nine kills and two service aces, while Nolan added 36 assists, nine digs, two blocking assists and three kills.

Despite the setback, junior Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.) managed yet another double-double for Wentworth with 13 kills and 12 digs. Freshman Mary Zlotosch (Durham, N.H) finished with 19 assists, three digs, one solo block and two kills, while junior Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H./Bishop) chipped in with 15 digs and two assists.

Match Two: Wentworth 3, Fitchburg State 0 (25-10, 25-15, 25-10)

Wentworth cruised past the host Falcons in a match that lasted just over an hour, hitting .262 as a team, including .412 hitting from Zlotosch (7-0-17). Zlotosch continued her strong play for the Leopards, finishing with 12 assists, seven kills, three service aces, two blocks and eight kills, while freshman Jade Iadarola (Miami, Fla.) added to the mix with 12 digs, three kills and one assist.

For the Green and Gold, senior Nicole Sylvester (Everett, Mass./Everett) paved the way with a match best 14 digs and three kills, while classmate Kathryn Carroll (Shrewsbury, Mass./Shrewsbury) chipped in with three digs, four assists and two kills. Junior Jaquelyn Manyak (Bolton, Mass./Nashoba Regional) was strong as well for the hosts, registering four digs, one kill, four assists and one service ace.

Wentworth now gears up for the CCC postseason tournament, and will await its seeding to come out on Saturday.
