Boston, Mass. – The Wentworth women's volleyball team split two five-set matches in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon inside Tansey Gymnasium. The Leopards prevailed over WPI before dropping a hard-fought battle against Keene State and improve to 6-3 overall.
Match One: Wentworth 3, WPI 2 (15-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 15-9)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams split the opening two sets, before WPI took a 2-1 match lead in the third. The Engineers and the Leopards went the distance, as WPI broke a 23-23 tie with the final two points on a kill from Colleen Mullins and a block from Sarah Kwatinetz.
- Wentworth blew WPI out of the water in the fourth set, hitting a match-high .440 with just two errors on 25 swings. Trialing 8-10 early on, Wentworth exploded for a 10-1 run with freshman Jordan Chapman (Clearwater, Fla.) on the serve. Sophomore Mary Zlotosch (Durham, N.H.) and senior Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.) led the attack in the surge for Wentworth, which stayed in front to force extra sets after the ten-point win.
- A hefty run for the Leopards put the home team in sharp shape, as senior Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H.) served eight straight points, six of which were WPI errors, to lead 10-3 early on. WPI pulled as close to four points after a kill by Amanda Wetmore, but the Engineers were no match for Wentworth, which sailed away with the 15-9 set win and match victory.
NOTEWORTHY
- Quick, Rogoz, and Chapman each booked a double-double.
- Wentworth earns its first win against WPI since 2017.
- The Leopards were ranked 12th in the first NEWVA regional poll, while the Engineers were ranked 15th.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Fresh off its 3-0 sweep over WPI, Keene State took the opening two sets for a 2-0 match lead.
- The Leopards crawled back in the third and put the Owls on blast, hitting .400 with just three errors. Wentworth opened up with a 10-3 run, as Zlotosch, Quick, Rogoz, and Makenna Salsbury (Bel Air, Md.) combined for seven points, two of which were aces from Zlotosch and Salsbury. Midway through the set, the Leopards ignited an 8-2 run to lead by 12 points, 22-10, before Lassiter and Rogoz put the match away 25-12.
- Keene State stole a 5-4 lead following a kill by Bailey Wilson before Wentworth regained the advantage on the heels of a 3-0 spurt. Keene State tied the set at 7-apiece, but Chapman served for six straight points and mixed in two aces to double up on the Owls 14-7. The Owls crawled out of their hole and pulled within a single point two different times towards the end of the set, but Zlotosch and Riley Waggoner (Simi Valley, Calif.) sent the Leopards into their second five-setter of the day with a kill apiece.
- Wentworth started the last set on a high note and built a 6-3 lead after a kill by Lassiter. The Owls turned a 5-2 run of their own, tying the set at 8-8 to force a Wentworth timeout. The set tied for one last time at 11-11, before Keene State closed the match with four straight points.
NOTEWORTHY
- Chapman set a new career-high and a match record for assists over five sets.
- Chapman, Rogoz, Quick booked their second double-double of the day.
- This was the first meeting between the two teams.
NEXT
- The Leopards host Roger Williams University at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday for their first Commonwealth Coast Conference match. The two teams will meet for the first time since the 2018 CCC Finals, when Wentworth was crowned as champions.
