BOSTON, Mass. – The Wentworth women's volleyball team rolled to its ninth straight win in straight sets on Thursday evening, defeating Rhode Island College (25-13, 25-16, 25-17) in non-conference action inside Tansey Gymnasium.
The Leopards boast a 15-4 record and .789 win percentage, while the Anchorwomen drop to 6-11 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Leopards had their best statistical showing in the first set, hitting .323 with 12 kills and two errors on 31 swings. Wentworth crawled out of a 5-2 hole with freshman Ashley Lavigne on the serve, and quickly tied the set and took the lead on the heels of a 6-0 run. A timeout from the Anchorwomen couldn't stop the bleed, as the Leopards continued to swing effectively with kills from Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.), Samantha Lassiter (Rogers, Ark.), and Jade Iadarola (Miami, Fla.) for a 14-8 advantage. Wentworth put the set out of reach in the final plays, closing on a 6-1, again with Lavigne leading the charge at the service line.
- As it was in the first, Lavigne again steered the Leopards to a lengthy advantage, and swung into three aces while serving eight straight points for a 14-6 lead. RIC would go on a 4-1 run of their own after back-to-back kills from Jenaeya Evans and Jacqueline Evans, but Wentworth exploded for seven straight points and two aces from Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H.) for the 22-10 advantage.
- In the closest set of the night, RIC battled back from a five-point deficit to pull within three points, 8-5, following a swing from Jenaeya Evans. A kill Jessica Brielmaier shrunk the score to 10-8, but the Leopards used a 6-3 run to build a 16-11 lead, forcing a RIC timeout. The closest RIC would get to a comeback was within four points on two occasions, before Wentworth's Lassiter ignited a 4-0 run to close out the match.
NOTEWORTHY
- Rogoz recorded the 11th double-double of her senior campaign and hit .524 in her third straight match over .500.
- The Leopards recorded 15 service aces as a team, including seven from Lavigne, both which rank second all-time.
- Wentworth holds a 3-2 record against the Anchorwomen in the all-time series, and have won the last three matches.
