Rogoz, Waggoner Earn Weekly Conference Honors

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.) and freshman Riley Waggoner (Simi Valley, Calif.) were both recognized by the Commonwealth Coast Conference as announced on Monday afternoon. 

Rogoz was named as the league's player of the week, while Waggoner earned rookie of the week honors. Both accolades are the first of the season for the respective student-athletes.

Rogoz averaged 4.10 kills and 4.00 digs per set while hitting .359 in a 2-1 week for Wentworth. She narrowly missed a double-double in WIT's 3-0 sweep over UNE, as she put down nine kills and 16 digs while hitting a blistering .750.  She then notched back-to-back double-doubles to with 13 kills and 10 digs in a straight-set win over RIC, followed by a 19-kill, 14-dig performance in a four-set loss to Emerson. She averaged 4.5 points per set last week and also have four aces. Rogoz currently leads the conference in total kills (237) and kills per set (3.49) 

Waggoner averaged 1.80 kills and 1.10 blocks per set and started with six block assists in a 3-0 sweep of the Nor'easters in conference play, while also pitching in six kills. She had three more assisted blocks against Rhode Island College and also added four more kills in what was Wentworth's ninth straight sweep. Waggoner closed out the week with 10 points against Emerson with eight kills, two block assists, and one ace in that contest. For the week, Waggoner posted a .310 hitting percentage, and currently ranks third in the conference in blocks per set (0.85).

Wentworth resumes conference action inside Tansey Gym tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. against Curry.
