BOSTON, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference announced its 2019 All-Conference teams on Monday evening, naming six Wentworth women's volleyball players to the list including two major award-winners.
Senior Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.) and freshman Jordan Chapman (Clearwater, Fla.) headlined the announcement as the CCC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, respectively, joined by Lexie Cambray (Bedford, N.H.), Mary Zlotosch (Durham, N.H.), Samantha Lassiter (Rogers, Ark.) and Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, Calif.). Rogoz was a first team selection, while Chapman, Zlotosch, and Cambray were named to the second team. Quick and Lassiter rounded out the Wentworth honors as third-team honorees.
Rogoz led the conference in all major offensive categories with 3.38 kills per set, 321 total kills, and 379 total points. The senior outside hitter, who earned a first team nod for her entire career at WIT, was also strong on the defensive side of the ball, ranking fifth most digs in the conference (359) and averaged 3.78 digs per set, which was good for eighth in the CCC. Rogoz was also in the top 10 in hitting percentage at .263 and had 17 double-doubles this year while named the CCC Player of the Week three times. Throughout her season she set numerous all-time records, and became the first Wentworth women's volleyball player to book 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs.
Chapman to no surprise earned the league's rookie of the year award after winning seven of nine weekly honors for her standout freshman season. As Wentworth's primary setter she averaged 7.22 assists per set for 643 overall while setting a variety of school records. She was also a force on the serve, and booked 41 aces this season which ranks first among her Leopard teammates. She averaged 2.06 digs per set for 183 total, and snuck in 32 kills to cap her accolades.
Cambray anchored the Leopard defense and as a result earned her second straight all-conference nod. She averaged 3.73 digs per set for 336 on the season, which ranks fourth in the CCC. She eclipsed the 1,000 dig milestone in her most successful season as libero in a Wentworth uniform, and also booked 34 aces and had 66 assists. Zlotosch joined Cambray on the second team with her second all-conference award with 191 kills, 27 aces, and 48 total blocks. She was a force on offense in the Leopards' home stretch of the season, and had four double digit efforts in the kills column in her last six matches.
Lassiter and Quick rounded out the stellar 2019 senior class on the third team, as Lassiter became the all-time blocks leader early on in the season. She averaged 0.49 blocks per set for 39 this season, and hit .281 as one of Wentworth's top efficient hitters. Lassiter booked 125 kills alongside 35 digs. She hit above .400 in four matches, highlighted by .500 hitting with nine kills and just two errors on 14 swings versus Curry. Quick enjoyed a variety of milestones of her own, hitting 1,000 career digs and 1,000 career points, joining Rogoz and the only two WIT women's volleyball players to do so. In her fourth all-conference honor, Quick totaled 182 kills for 2.94 kills per set while picking up 225 digs for 1,152 in her career. She hit .259 this season and is hitting .241 in her careering heading into the playoffs, while also averaging 3.2 points per set.
The Leopards are set to take on Gordon tomorrow night in the first round of the CCC Postseason tournament. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Tansey Gym.
