BRAD R. CARPENTER '05 - Ice Hockey

Brad Carpenter arrived on the Wentworth campus in 2001 and played in 29 of the team’s 30 games that season, scoring eight goals and assisting on 21 others for 29 points to help Wentworth to a 23-7 record, its second ECAC Northeast championship in three seasons, and its second appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament.  Carpenter helped the Leopards advance to the title game by assisting on the game-winning goal in overtime over Johnson & Wales in the league semifinals.  Earlier that season he recorded a pair of assists in a 4-3 upset win at RIT, which was ranked number one in Division III at the time.  The Leopards, whose 23 wins set a program record for wins, finished the season ranked 10th in the final USCHO.com Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Poll.

Carpenter had his best offensive season as a sophomore, scoring 22 goals and assisting on 27 others for 49 points, which is the third highest single season point output in program history.  Four of his 22 goals came on the power play and, for the second season in a row, three of his goals were game-winning goals.  The Leopards finished the season with a 21-5-3 record, winning their second straight ECAC Northeast Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division III Men’s Ice Hockey Tournament for the second straight year.  Carpenter, who was both a Second Team All-ECAC Northeast selection and a New England Hockey Writers All-Star, recorded a goal and an assist in the 5-1, championship game win over Lebanon Valley.

As a junior, Carpenter played in all of the team’s 29 games and scored 37 points on 15 goals and 22 assists.  He was extremely effective on special teams, with eight goals coming on the power play and two others coming in shorthanded situations.  The Leopards put together a late-season winning streak to capture their third consecutive ECAC Northeast Championship with a 5-4 win over Curry, which was nationally ranked.  In that game, he had a goal and an assist, which came on the heels of a two-goal, one-assist performance in a semifinal win over Lebanon Valley.  A captain of that team which finished 16-9-4, Carpenter was both a Second Team All-ECAC Northeast selection and a New England Hockey Writers All-Star.

He closed out his career with 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) as a senior with three of his goals coming on the power play and three coming while shorthanded.  The Leopards finished the season with a 15-10-2 record and advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament.  Carpenter’s final season marked the eighth consecutive season the program had won at least 15 games and the sixth consecutive season the Wentworth advanced to the semifinal round of the conference tournament.  For the third season in a row, Carpenter, a team captain, was both a Second Team All-ECAC Northeast selection and a New England Hockey Writers All-Star.

Carpenter ranks second in program history in both games played (113) and assists (91), while his 146 career points and five shorthanded goals both rank him third all-time on Wentworth’s scoring list.  Of his 55 career goals, 18 came on the power play, placing him sixth on Wentworth’s all-time list for both.  During his four years the Leopards had an impressive record of 75-31-9, including a 49-7-6 record within conference play.

A native of Kamloops, B.C., Carpenter graduated from Wentworth in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  He is presently employed at Alfieri Proctor Associates as an engineer and has coached hockey at the youth and high school levels the past four years.  Carpenter and his wife Lindsay, who is also being honored this evening, reside in Ashland, Mass., with their daughter, Chloe.

LINDSEY A. CONLEY '05 - Soccer

Lindsey Conley was a four-year member of the Leopard women’s soccer team, helping it to 51 wins over a four-year span.  The 51 wins during her career were the second most by the Leopard women’s soccer team over a four-year span in program history.

As a freshman, she started 13 of the team’s 17 games, scoring five goals and adding an assist for 11 points.  Two of her five goals were game-winning goals as she helped the Leopards to an 11-6 record.  The 11 wins set a program record for victories in a season, besting the old mark by one.  She also saw time in goal in three games and didn’t allow a goal in 180:00 of work, including picking up the shutout in a 1-0 win over Salve Regina.

Conley’s sophomore season would be the best offensive season of her career and it was not merely a coincidence that the team had its most successful campaign to date that same season.  Starting 17 of the 20 games in which she played, she recorded 10 goals and six assists for 26 points, with two of her 10 goals holding up as game-winning tallies.  Both her 10 goals and her six assists are the fifth highest seasonal totals in program history.  That season the Leopards shattered the program record for wins, finishing 15-5, advancing to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament, and earning the program’s first-ever ECAC Division III New England Women’s Soccer Tournament berth.  Conley etched her name in the history book when she tallied Wentworth’s first-ever ECAC Tournament goal, as her second-half goal in the quarterfinal round game at Gordon tied the game at 1-all.  The Leopards would fall to the Fighting Scots, 3-2, in double overtime.

During her junior campaign, the Leopards enjoyed yet another successful campaign, finishing the season with a 14-7 record, advancing to the CCC title game for the first time in program history, and making its second of four consecutive trips to the ECAC Tournament.  Conley established new program records for games played and games started in a season by starting all 21 contests that season as well as scoring six goals and two assists for 14 points.  She established a program record for goals in a game when she scored four times in an 8-0 win over Regis.  The eight points she accumulated that day also established a program record for points in a game.

After playing three seasons as a midfielder, Conley was converted to sweeper for her senior season.  Starting 19 of the team’s 20 games, she helped the Leopards to an 11-8-1 record and a third straight ECAC Tournament appearance by assisting keeping opponents scoreless in 10 games.  Her efforts did not go unnoticed; however, as she earned First Team All-CCC honors and was named Third Team All-New England by the New England Women’s Soccer Association.

A native of Dalton, Mass., Conley ranks third in program history with both 78 games played and 70 games started, while she is fifth all-time with six career game-winning goals, sixth all-time with 21 career goals, and seventh all-time with 51 career points.  Since graduating from Wentworth in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Planning and Management, she has been employed at Brigham & Women’s Hospital as an Assistant Project Manager.  She presently resides in Ashland, Mass., with her husband, Brad Carpenter, and their daughter, Chloe.

WADE R. FLEMING '05 - Soccer

A four-year starter and two-year captain, Wade Fleming enjoyed a stellar career as a goalkeeper for the Wentworth men’s soccer team, helping the Leopards to 42 wins in a four-year span and serving as the backbone for a defensive unit that was considered to be one of the best in the conference.

Despite being a freshman and untested at the collegiate level, Fleming stepped into the role of starting keeper from the opening kickoff of his first collegiate game and put up impressive numbers in his rookie campaign.  Starting all 19 of the Leopards’ games he posted a 1.27 goals against average and six shutouts.  He set a single-season record for wins in a season with 13 and his 169 saves were the second most by a Leopard keeper in a single season while helping the Leopards to their first Commonwealth Coast Conference championship game appearance since 1996.  Wentworth’s 13 wins (13-6-0) that season marked the third time in four seasons the men’s soccer program had won 10 or more games in a season and tied a program record set two seasons earlier in 1998 (13-7-1).  Fleming’s performance during his inaugural season was celebrated by his being named Honorable Mention All-CCC.

After tying the program record for wins in a season during Fleming’s rookie season, he and his teammates went a step further in 2001, breaking the program’s single-season win mark with 14, en route to an appearance in the CCC Semifinals and the program’s first ECAC Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament appearance, an accomplishment that would be repeated three more times before the end of the decade.  Wentworth finished the 2001 season with a 14-4-2 record and Fleming started 12 of the 14 (13 in goal, one as a field player) contests in which he played.  He posted a 9-3-0 record with a 1.04 goals against average and three shutouts.  His goals against average ranks among the seasonal bests in program history, while his nine wins in a season tied him for the sixth most.  Fleming was a First Team All-CCC selection and earned All-New England honors from the National Soccer Coaches’ Association of America.

During his junior season, Fleming started 11 of the 12 games in which he played with a 5-4-1 record, one shutout, 90 saves, and a 2.13 goals against average.  That season the Leopards finished 8-8-1, which including tying Salve Regina in the CCC Quarterfinals but falling in the penalty kick round to determine who advanced to the semifinals.  His efforts were recognized by the men’s soccer coaches in both the CCC and New England as he repeated as both a First Team All-CCC Selection and earned NSCAA All-New England honors.

Fleming closed out his career by starting all 15 games in which he played as a senior and posting all five of the Leopards’ wins that season to accompany a 1.63 goals against average, 81 saves, and three shutouts.  For the third consecutive season he earned First Team All-CCC honors and NSCAA All-New England honors and he was selected to play in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League’s Senior All-Star Game.

Holding the program’s all-time marks for wins (32), saves (423), saves per game (7.17), and games played by a goalkeeper (59), Fleming graduated from Wentworth with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture in 2005.  A native of Lebanon, N.H., he spent four seasons (2005-2009) as the Varsity Boys Soccer Coach at Lebanon High School and presently resides in Gorham, Maine, where he is self-employed in the areas of real estate and residential construction.

MICHAEL N. WOOD '05 - Lacrosse

One of the most dominant attackmen to ever don the Black & Gold Mike Wood becomes the third Leopard lacrosse player to be inducted into the Wentworth Athletics Hall of Fame.

Wood started all 13 games as a freshman tallying 17 goals and assisting on 14 others for 31 points, while helping the Leopards to a 5-8 record and a fifth consecutive berth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament.  His 17 goals that season were second on the team, while both his assist and point total were third-highest for the Leopards.

As a sophomore he helped Wentworth make program history as the Leopards, who would finish the season with a 6-7 record, qualified for the ECAC Division III Men’s Lacrosse Tournament for the first time in the existence of the program.  Starting all 13 of the team’s games, he tallied 23 goals and 22 assists for 45 points.  The 22 assists he dished out that season are the third-most in the program’s history, while his 45 points were the fourth highest total in a single season.  Wood scored at least one point in all 13 games, including a seven-point output in a win over Emerson.  For his efforts he was named Honorable Mention All-Commonwealth Coast Conference.

The Leopard lacrosse team had one of its finest seasons on record in 2004, tying the school record for wins in a season (nine) and finishing 9-7.  Wentworth won just its second CCC Tournament game that season and made its second straight ECAC Tournament appearance.  Wood set a program record by starting all of the team’s 16 games and scored 31 goals and 24 assists for 55 points, which is the fourth highest point total in a season for the Leopards.  He scored four goals in Wentworth’s first-ever win over New England College on Apr. 15, 2004, and recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) in a win over the University of New England on Apr. 24, 2004.  Wood was named Second Team All-CCC for his performance.

Starting all 13 of Wentworth’s games during his final season, he helped the Leopards to a 6-7 record and a berth in the CCC Tournament.  Earning that berth was not an easy task, however, as Wentworth needed a late-season winning streak to be in a position to qualify.  Wood scored at least one point in all 13 games, tallying 23 goals and 20 assists (43 points).  This extended his scoring streak to 22 consecutive games which saw him score 42 goals and 37 assists for an impressive 69 points during this span.  In an 11-6 win over UMass Boston on Apr. 21, 2005, Wood made history when he scored a goal with 3:01 remaining in the first half.

That goal gave him 168 career points, breaking the program record of 167, set by fellow hall of fame member Mark Castela ‘99.  For the second consecutive season, he earned Second Team All-CCC honors.

A two-year captain, Wood started all 55 games in which he played, helping the Leopards to a 26-29 record during his career.  In addition to holding the program record for most career points with 174, he ranks second all-time with 80 assists and is tied for fourth with 94 career goals.  Wood graduated from Wentworth in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management.  A native of Wilton, Conn., he currently resides in Norwalk, Conn., where he is employed by his family’s light residential construction company as a project manager in lower Fairfield County.
