Thirteen Named to CCC Fall All-Academic Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference has announced the Fall 2012 Academic All-Conference Team, and it includes 317student-athletes from the conference’s 10 member institutions. The Academic All-Conference honor rewards varsity student-athletes who attain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher. The Fall Academic All-Conference Team encompasses student-athletes who participated in the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s tennis, and volleyball.

Wentworth placed 13 student-athletes from its four fall teams on this list.

Of the honorees, 69 were either first team, second team, or honorable mention All-CCC selections in their sport.

Also noteworthy is that the Athlete(s) of the Year in five of the CCC fall sports received Academic All-Conference laurels, including women’s cross country Runner of the Year Hannah Zydanowicz (Roger Williams), field hockey Co-Offensive Player of the Year Emily Widdison (Nichols), field hockey Defensive Player of the Year Taylor Teixeira (Endicott), women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Year Kaitlyn Birrell (Salve Regina), women’s soccer Defensive Player of the Year Caitlin Peters (Endicott), women’s tennis Player of the Year Anna Dyakiv (Nichols), and volleyball Player of the Year Paige Curran (Univ. of New England).
