Wentworth to Celebrate Division III Week

BOSTON, Mass. – NCAA Division III Week is set for the week of April 6-12 and Wentworth Institute of Technology student-athletes will be participating in numerous activities as a part of this event.

Division III is the NCAA’s largest and most diverse division, with more than 450 members, 43 conferences and more than 187,000 student-athletes.

The event is a celebration by member institutions and conferences of the division’s unique philosophy that equally values academics, athletics and student-athletes’ involvement in a full and rich campus life.

Division III schools strive to provide student-athletes the opportunity to discover their potential and develop their passions through full participation in campus life, and ultimately to dedicate themselves to success as citizens and leaders in society.

Please show your support of Wentworth’s student-athletes throughout the week. The following is a list of events planned for the week:

WEEK-LONG
Our athletic teams will be creating an “Athletic Memories Collage” in the entrance way of the Nelson Recreation Center. Stop by and see some of the accomplishments and memories from this year.

MONDAY, APRIL 6
There will be a Division III information table in the Beatty Hall Cafeteria from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Stop by our table when you grab lunch to learn about NCAA Division III Athletics at Wentworth and be entered into a raffle for a gift card to the Wentworth Bookstore or University House of Pizza at Wednesday’s lacrosse doubleheader. At 7:00 p.m. the Leopard women’s lacrosse team will host Becker College on Sweeney Field.

TUESDAY, APRIL 7
Wentworth’s men’s volleyball team will be hosting a Great Northeast Athletic Conference Tournament match against Emerson at 7:00 p.m. Wentworth’s SAAC would like to make this a “Black-Out” Game and is encouraging all student-athletes to wear their Wentworth Student-Athlete jacket to the game or other black Wentworth clothing and is encouraging fans to wear black to the match.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 8
There will be a Division III information table in the Beatty Hall Cafeteria from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Stop by our table when you grab lunch to learn about NCAA Division III Athletics at Wentworth and be entered into a raffle for a gift card to the Wentworth Bookstore or University House of Pizza at Wednesday’s lacrosse doubleheader. Additionally, come watch our women’s and men’s lacrosse teams take on Commonwealth Coast Conference rival Nichols College on Sweeney Field where members of our Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be holding a raffle for a chance to win a $100 gift card to the Wentworth Bookstore or University House of Pizza.  One winner will be announced at the halftime of each game (in order to win you must be present and have your ticket). The women play at 4:00 and the men at 7:00.

THURSDAY, APRIL 9
In recognition of their hard work in the classroom, Wentworth student-athletes with a 3.00 or higher cumulative grade point average have been invited to an ice cream social.

FRIDAY, APRIL 10
The Wentworth softball team will host Gordon College in CCC doubleheader. Come to Sweeney Field to cheer on the Leopards at 3:30 p.m.
