Sophomore Kyle Desjardins (North Granby, Conn.) reached on an error and he and McManus both scored on a double from sophomore Matt Bishop (Boston, N.Y.).
  • The Knights threatened in the top of the fifth inning, putting runners on first and second, thanks to a single and a walk, respectively. On a sacrifice bunt attempt, Perconti made a diving catch of a popup and doubled the lead runner off. After a single put runners back on first and second, he got a pop up to end the inning.
  • Wentworth had runners on second and third with one out after junior Kyle Litwin (Jacksonville, Fla.) walked and went to second on a sophomore Nolan Freeman (Braintree, Mass.) bunt single. Both moved up 9 feet on a French sacrifice bunt, however, a strikeout ended the inning.
  • Perconti picks up the win (1-0) as he allowed one unearned run on seven hits and struck out five. At the plate, Bishop was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED (Game Two):

McManus plated Litwin and Freeman with a two-run single of his own, while French scored on an RBI single from Desjardins. With runners on first and second, McManus stole home as Desjardins was caught stealing second.
  • With runners on first and second in the third inning, Freeman delivered a single, scoring sophomore Matt Masciadrelli (Westfield, Mass.) who had led off the inning with a single. After Freeman and Litwin, who had singled, each moved up 9 feet on a wild pitch, French drove them both home.
  • Desjardins led off the sixth inning with a single and went to third on a Bishop double. With one out, Masciadrelli reached on a fielder's choice where an error allowed Desjardins to score to make it 10-0.
  • Martin Luther got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth inning when sophomore Jonas Lindemann (Egg Harbor, Wis.) drove in junior Callahan Diersen (New Ulm, Minn.). The Knights added two more in the bottom of the seventh inning, including when Christopher delivered an RBI single.
