Men's Soccer Edges Husson in Season Opener

Men's Soccer Edges Husson in Season Opener

BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Juan Cedeno (North Andover, Mass.) scored the game's lone goal in the 74th minute while sophomore Robbie West (Weymouth, Mass.) made four saves to record the shutout in his first collegiate start as the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's soccer team opened the 2019 campaign with a 1-0 win over Husson.

The Leopards controlled play in the first half and held a 6-3 shot advantage, with five of the six shots going on target. However, Eagle senior keeper Kyle Townsend (Hampden, Maine), kept the hosts off the board.

In the 68th minute, Wentworth appeared to jump on the board, however, an offsides call negated the goal and kept the stalemate in check.

Cedeno's marker came when sophomore Jomar Martins (Braintree, Mass.) sent a pass in from the left side where Cedeno controlled the ball and buried it inside the right post.

White made two saves in each half to earn the clean sheet. Townsend made six saves for Husson. Wentworth had a 9-7 shot advantage and a 5-0 edge on corner kicks.

Wentworth is at UMass Boston on Monday afternoon.
