Curry Defeats Men's Tennis

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team took two of three doubles matches and never looked back, defeating Wentworth Institute of Technology, 6-3, in Commonwealth Coast Conference action Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Colonels improve to 3-8 overall and 1-2 in CCC play while the Leopards fall to 6-8 (1-2).

Junior Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) teamed with senior Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) to take an 8-2 win at No. 1 over sophomores Tyler Hall (Framingham, Mass.) and Jarrett North (Roanoke, Texas). At No. 2, Curry took a 2-0 lead after senior Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.) and freshman Lorenzo Russo (Lynnfield, Mass.) defeated sophomores Tristan Maus (Mansfield, Mass.) and Andrew Farrell (Monmouth Beach, N.J.), 8-4. Wentworth got on the board with an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles as sophomore Harrison Maki (Rutland, Mass.) and junior Mun Chet (Braintree, Mass.) defeated senior Daniel Ritucci (Middleboro, Mass.) and senior Joshua Bernstein (Cherry Hill, N.J.), 8-2.

The Colonels took the first three completed singles matches to clinch the win. At No. 1, Roach defeated Hall, 6-0, 6-1, while at No. 4, Russo was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Maki. Hefler's 6-3, 6-0 win over Maus at No. 3 was the match clincher, giving Curry a 5-1 lead. Sophomore Rahul Bahl (Brookline, Mass.) won at No. 4 over freshman Timothy O'Brien, 6-2, 6-0, while Chet was a 6-1, 6-1 winner over Ritucci. Stento closed out the match with a 6-2, 6-1 win over North at No. 2.

Wentworth is at Gordon on Wednesday.
