Men's Cross Country Wins By a "Foote" at Wellesley Invitational

Wellesley, Mass. – Freshman Alexander Foote (North Easton, Mass.) was the deciding factor as the sixth runner of the Wentworth men's cross country team, propelling the Leopards to a first-place finish at the Wellesley Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Foote displaced a Brandeis runner late in the race, running a 19:10 in his first collegiate 5K, giving Wentworth 37 points in front of Brandeis University (38 points) and Regis (47 points).

Junior Tom Caruso (Mahopac, N.Y.) ran a strong race as the Leopards' leader, finishing at 16:36.8, shaving over a minute off his 5K time at last year's Wellesley invite. Caruso's time was good for third place overall, followed by fourth-place senior Josh Gangemi (Norton, Mass.), who ran his fastest 5K as a Leopard at 17:09.4.

Sophomores Will Allen (West Hartford, Conn.) and Wes Brimeyer (Dubuque, Iowa) crossed the line five seconds within each other, finishing at 18:10.3 and 18:12.8, respectively, before Foote and senior Chris Kaberle (Pelham, N.H.) wrapped things up for Wentworth at 19:10.0 and 20:11.3.

The Leopards return to action on Saturday, September 8 at the UNE Invitational hosted in Biddeford, Maine.
