CCC Front-runner Endicott Powers Past Softball

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott softball team stayed undefeated in the Commonwealth Coast Conference with a league sweep over Wentworth Institute of Technology on Tuesday afternoon at Carr Diamond.

Now 11-0 in league play, the Gulls improve to 22-4 overall, while the Leopards drop to 3-9 in the CCC and 9-16 overall.

Game One – Endicott 10 Wentworth 2 (Six Innings)

Endicott scattered six hits and plated five runs across the opening two innings, led by a three-RBI triple from Lauren Misiaszek. While Gulls' pitcher Michaela Hamill had a no-no going through the third, Wentworth was able to plate a run off a sacrifice fly from junior Rylee Rehders (Moreno Valley, Calif.), scoring Brianna Beverly (Pawcatuck, Conn.) for the 5-1 score. Junior Deanna DiPilato (Worcester, Mass.) ruined the no-hitter for Hamill in the bottom of the fifth with a single to left, but was left on base as the Leopards went down in order.

Endicott scored five runs in the top of the sixth, hitting the eight-run mercy after a sacrifice fly from Adrianna Favreau. Wentworth got one back on an RBI-groundout from Ceidilh Higgins, but Endicott added a run of insurance from Misiaszek after Favreaut's RBI to hold on to the eight-run lead.

Freshman Katie Verreault (Scarborough, Maine) and DiPilato were the only two Leopards to connect from Hamill's heat, while Higgins and Rehders knocked in both WIT runs. Sophomore Kayla DeMedeiros (South Dartmouth, Mass.) fanned one batter in 5.1 innings of work.

Game Two – Endicott 8, Wentworth 0

Gulls' pitcher Maggie Oram pitched her third shutout win of the season, allowing just three hits with three strikeouts. Higgins, DiPilato, and sophomore Brionna Meyers (Seabrook, N.H.) connected at the plate in the setback.

Misiaszek paced the Gulls with two RBI, as the Gulls collectively booked 10 hits, three coming from first baseman Olivia Odermatt.

Freshman Aurora Wilks (Fruitport, Mich.) suffered the loss in the circle for Wentworth with four walks and seven earned runs.

The Leopards return to Carr Diamond tomorrow afternoon for a CCC doubleheader against Curry College, and will honor lone senior Emily Winter (Stratford, Conn.) before first pitch.
