RECORDS

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • While the Sharks won the opening draw, senior Alexis Stickelman (East Northport, N.Y.) denied Simmons the chance to set up on offense, redirecting possession to the Wentworth third. Freshman Helen Hamblett (East Boothbay, Maine) set up Sarah Galan (Colchester, Vt.) for the first goal of the game, as the Leopards led by a goal just a minute into the contest.
  • Simmons answered with a quick two goals of its own, before Galan answered the Sharks' beckon with a goal from inside the arc and the 2-2 score. The Sharks soon took a 4-2 lead, scoring two goals in under a minute, and took the lead for good, despite Wentworth knocking on the door with a tally from Bella MacMahon (North Yarmouth, Maine) with 17 left to play.
  • The Sharks, who led 9-4 at the half, held Wentworth to four goals for the first eight minutes of the half, scoring five of their own for a 14-4 advantage and back-to-back points from Molly Reinhold. Wentworth took just three shots on net in the final 30, two of which found the twine off the stick of Julie Dam (Milford, Mass.) and Jorgie Pashalian (Cranston, R.I.).
