Pastorelli, Miller, Richard Named NSCAA All-New England

BOSTON, Mass. – The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its Division III Women's Soccer All-Region Teams on Wednesday afternoon and Wentworth Institute of Technology had three of its players represented. Senior Mary Pastorelli (Whitesboro, N.Y.) was named to the first team while senior Morgan Miller (Schenectady, N.Y.) and junior Emily Richard (Fremont, N.H.) were each named to the third team.

Pastorelli, a Second Team All-New England selection a season ago, was a key reason why the Leopards allowed just 14 goals in 23 contests and a 0.59 goals against average, which included a program-record 14 shutouts. The two-time (2015, 2016) Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year and three-time (2014, 2015, 2016) CCC All-Conference honoree was also a factor in Wentworth's offense as she had three goals and three assists for nine points. Pastorelli had a goal and an assist in the Leopards' 4-0 win over Gordon in the CCC title game. For her career she started 74 of the 82 games in which she played and in addition to anchoring the defense, had seven goals and five assists for 19 career points.

Miller, who was named Third Team All-New England as a junior, has been a versatile, two-way midfielder throughout her career. The four-time All-CCC selection helped Wentworth post its two lowest goals against averages in program history (2015 and 2016) and the Leopards had 32 shutouts in the last three seasons with 26 of them coming in the last two seasons. Her work on the defensive end of the field also created numerous scoring chances for her teammates throughout her career. Additionally, this season she had a career-best 11 points which came on four goals and 11 assists. The program's all-time leader in games played (87) and games started (85), Miller had 21 career points (seven goals, seven assists).

A three-year starter, Richard picks up All-New England honors on the heels of being named the CCC Offensive Player of the Year. The two-time (2015, 2016) All-CCC selection scored eight goals and assisted on a program-record 14 others for 30 points. In addition to assisting on the most goals in a season in program history, her 14 assists rank her seventh among NCAA Division III women's soccer players. Richard's 30 points are the sixth-highest in a single season in program history. In 65 career games (61 starts), Richard has 15 goals and 21 assists for 51 points. She ranks third on the school's all-time assist list and is tied for ninth in total points.

Wentworth finished the season with a 16-4-3 record. After defeating Gordon, 4-0, in the CCC title game, the Leopards defeated Arcadia, 1-0, in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Williams, 1-0.
