Women's Volleyball Overpowers Worcester State

WORCESTER, Mass. – Milestones continue to lead the Wentworth women's volleyball team to unprecedented success, as senior Claire Quick (Mission Viejo, Calif.) became the fourth player in Black & Gold history to reach the 1,000 digs milestone in a 3-0 win over Worcester State.

Quick ranks fourth all-time, next to classmate Leah Rogoz (Woodridge, Ill.), who became the first player in the record books to reach 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs earlier this season.

Wentworth climbs to 4-2 with the victory while Worcester State drops to 1-3.

STAT LEADERS – Wentworth

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Trialing 6-1 in the first set, the Leopards called for a break and erased the five-point deficit with a 7-2 run, as Quick tied the set 8-8. The Leopards pulled away in the middle of the frame, as another substantial run and a kill from freshman Riley Waggoner (Simi Valley, Calif.) set the score in favor of Wentworth, 19-12. Worcester State would only notch another point before a 6-0 burst and a final solo block from Zlotosch sealed the set 25-13 for the visiting team.
  • The Leopards soared to their second straight win in less than an hour's time, hitting .448 and .500 in the last two sets.

  • Wentworth soared to its second straight win hitting .368 as a team, which ranks fifth all-time.
