BOSTON, Mass. – Senior outfielder Alexandra Pina (Cumberland, R.I.) and sophomore Daniel Gallegos (Monterrey, Mexico) picked up this week's Leopard of the Week awards.
Pina played in all six games for Wentworth last week, going 12-of-21 at the plate and posting a .571 batting average. The senior hit five doubles on the week and had four RBI, while setting a new career-high with four hits Sunday, April 3 against Western New England University.
Gallegos went undefeated this weekend, picking up singles and doubles victories against Salve Regina University Saturday, April 3 and Sunday, April 4 versus Suffolk University. In #1 doubles, Gallegos and senior Kevin Solomon defeated Salve Regina Saturday, then the pair took an 8-4 decision over Suffolk Sunday. Gallegos won in straight sets against the Seahawks with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in #2 singles, then added a #2 singles 6-0, 6-3 victory over the Rams Sunday afternoon.
