BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Jacob Shankar (Johnstown, Ont.) of ice hockey and sophomore Brianna Carroll (Douglas, Mass.) of women's basketball have been named Leopards of the Week for the week of January 2-8.
Shankar had a productive weekend as the Leopards went 1-1 at the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In the Black & Gold's 5-2 loss to #15 Plattsburgh State Friday night, the sophomore snatched an assist on the game-tying goal before the Cardinals pulled away with the win. Shankar scored a goal and collected another assist in the Leopards' 4-3 win over SUNY Potsdam Saturday afternoon, bringing his season totals to three goals and nine points.
Carroll accumulated three of her season's four-highest point totals (11, 21, 9) in the Leopards' three contests of the week, with a new career-high of 21 coming against Gordon on January 5. In a season-high 40 minutes played, Carroll went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. Despite the winless week for Wentworth, the sophomore grabbed 15 rebounds, recorded three assists, and added three steals in the three games.
