BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Jared Pierce (Biddeford, Maine) of track and field and sophomore Maddy Foster (Lewiston, Maine) of women's basketball have been named Leopards of the Week for the week of January 30-February 5.
Pierce continued his season on the rise as the senior threw a program-best 15.98M mark in the shot put at the NEICAA Championships on February 2. Besting his recent program-high set a week prior, Pierce launched himself into 11th place in the Division III performance list with his new high. The list is used for selections to the NCAA Championship at season's end.
Despite a winless week for the Black & Gold, Foster stappled Wentworth's offense in narrow losses to UNE and Endicott. Against the Nor'Easters on February 1, the sophomore led all scorers with 20 points and added nine rebounds and four steals. Three days later against the Gulls, Foster dropped a game-high 18 points and grabbed five rebounds.
This is the second time Foster has earned the honor, previously being named a Leopard of the Week for the week of November 7-13.
