O'Neill Records Four Extra Base Hits in Doubleheader

BRISTOL, R.I. – Senior Kyle O'Neill (Haverhill, Mass.) led the Wentworth Institute of Technology baseball team with five hits, including four for extra bases, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference doubleheader against Roger Williams. HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Roger Williams scored in the bottom of the second inning as, with the bases loaded and one out, Mike Masino reached on a fielder's choice which scored sophomore Jack Morin. After Masino stole second to put runners on second and third with two outs, junior Brnadon Sullivan (Quincy, Mass.) got a fly out to end the inning. An inning later the Hawks sent 15 batters to the plate and scored 10 runs, thanks in part to a two-run single from junior Matt Massaro as well as a pair of bases loaded walks and a hit batter with the bases loaded.
  • An RBI single and a bases-loaded walk in the fourth added two more for the hosts before a two-run double from senior Kyle Davenport was part of a six-run fifth for the Hawks.
  • Wentworth got on the board in the sixth inning as O'Neill tripled in sophomore Matt Rice (Scottsdale, Ariz.). Rice came on as a pinch runner for sophomore Michael Petit (Sandwich, Mass.) who led off the inning being hot by pitch. O'Neil scored the Leopards' second run of the inning on a wild pitch.
