Golf Finishes Fifth at CCC Qualifier

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. – Defending Commonwealth Coast Conference Champion Endicott College carded a team score of 300 to take home first-place honors at the 2017 Commonwealth Coast Conference Fall Qualifier. The event was held at the Par 71, 6,403-yard Montaup Country Club and was hosted by Roger Williams. Wentworth scored 321 which placed the Leopards fifth in the seven-team field, just three strokes out of fourth place.

By virtue of finishing first the Gulls will host the top four teams at the 2018 CCC Golf Championship the weekend of April 28-29 at a location to be determined. The top four finishers – Endicott, Western New England (311), Roger Williams (316), and Nichols (318) will compete for the league's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Tournament, which will be held May 15-18 in Greensboro, N.C.

Junior Brian Bak (South Hadley, Mass.) was the Leopards' medalist as he finished tied for fifth among the 35-player field with a 76. Senior Paul Arsenault (Middleton, Mass.) finished in a tie for 11th with a 79, followed by sophomore Sean L'Italien (Pembroke, Mass.) who was tied for 21st with and 82, and senior Enrique Arrieche (Caracas, Venezuela) who finished tied for 25th with an 84. Freshman Sancho Rodriguez (San Roque, Spain) was 29th with an 87.

Wentworth will compete at the USM Fall Open on Sunday-Monday, October 8-9, in Gorham, Maine.
