Golf Has Strong Showing at EC Invite

BOSTON, Mass. – Placing its four scoring golfers among the top nine and all five of its golfers in the top 10, the Wentworth Institute of Technology golf team finished in third place at the EC Invite. The Leopards shot a team score of 322, their best round of the season, and finished one shot behind both Roger Williams and Rhode Island College. Roger Williams won the tiebreaker by having a lower score of the number five golfer.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Junior Ben Wright (Boxboro, Mass.) tied for third, shooting a career-low 78, which was five shots off the pace. Senior Jared Turgeon (Dover, N.H.) was two shots behind Wright, matching his career-best score with an 80. Freshman Nico Alonso (Madrid, Spain) had a career day, shooting an 81 to finish in eighth place, while junior Albert Duart (Lleida, Spain) rounded out Wentworth's scoring golfers with an 83.
  • Freshman Ryan Dandrea (Lakeville, Mass.) finished tied for 10th, shooting an 84, which is also the best round of his career.

NEXT UP:

  • Wentworth will compete at the NEIGA Championships on October 17-18. This two-day event will conclude the fall portion of the Leopards' schedule.
