HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth carried momentum early, putting three shots on net in a two and a half minute span. Shortly thereafter, the Leopards had their first power play of the night and put a pair of shots on net.
  • The game remained scoreless until the 15:12 mark when freshman Kaiden Scott (Romulus, Mich.)  put home a rebound of a junior Bellefeuille (Framingham, Mass.) shot which was saved by sophomore Will Oliver (Chesterfield, Mo.). Senior Lucas Anderson (Stockholm, Sweden) also picked up an assist on the goal.
  • Two minutes and two seconds later, the hosts made it a 2-0 game when Carlson started a scoring chance by winning a faceoff and scored from sophomore Daniel Barry (St. Louis, Mo.) and Miko. Nichols had a 12-8 shot advantage in the opening period.
  • Wentworth held a 14-11 shot advantage in the second period, a period that saw Nichols score the lone goal at the 16:58 mark. Carlson netted his second of the game, off a feed from Andersson.
  • Shortly after a 5-on-3 power play expired early in the third period, Wentworth got on the board with a 5-on-4 power-play goal from junior Kevin Obssuth (Chester, N.J.), who was set up by freshman George Weiner (Wayne, N.J.) and sophomore Josh Faussett (Okemos, Mich.). Twenty-nine seconds after killing off a penalty, the Leopards pulled within one as Obssuth scored his second of the game and fifth of the season as he was helped by senior Joey O'Leary (Boston, Mass.) and Faussett.
  • Miko gave the Bison a 4-2 lead with a power-play goal at 5:11 and the hosts upped their lead to 5-2 with 12:05 remaining off a goal from senior Noah Poindexter (Grand Rapids, Mich.).
  • Oliver was pulled for an extra attacker with 2:44 remaining and Wentworth had three shot attempts, with one going on net. Nichols cleared the zone one last time, resulting in Miko's second of the game, an empty-net tally.
  • Junior Korbinian Lutz (Munchen, Germany) made 36 saves while Oliver turned aside 30 shots for the Black & Gold, who had a 38-36 shot advantage.
