HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • After a pair of early saves by sophomore goaltender Connor Carbo (Berlin, Vt.), who made 28 saves on the night, the Leopards picked up a power play opportunity two minutes into the game but could not cash despite putting two shots on net during the man advantage. The Gulls then put multiple shots on net, but Carbo was able to keep them off the board. Following a Wentworth penalty just prior to the midway point of the first, Endicott got the first goal of the game off the stick of Jeremy Gabriele (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who fired a wrist shot from the top of the slot that beat Carbo to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
  • The Gulls put a flurry of shots on net following the goal, but Carbo turned them aside to keep the Leopards within one. Endicott picked up their second goal following the end of another Wentworth penalty, as Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) scored the first of his two goals on the night with just under three minutes remaining to give the Gulls a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission.
  • The Leopards had a few opportunities turned aside early in the second, as the two teams battled evenly with not many strong scoring chances either way. Following an unsuccessful Wentworth power play, Mazur scored his second of the night to put the Gulls up by three. A little over two minutes later, Endicott added another to break the game open at 4-0, getting a goal from Drew Lorinchak (Hamilton, Va.). Toward the end of the period, Wentworth gained another power play and with it a chance to get on the scoreboard but took a penalty of their own to negate the man advantage. Shortly after the ensuing faceoff, Endicott's John Serafin (St. Louis, Mo.) scored with 36 seconds remaining to send the Gulls into the third with a 5-0 lead.
  • The Leopards were not able to break through in the third, getting just five shots on goal in the final period. Endicott added two more goals in the final frame, with Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.) being the recipient of both goals, which came in a 25-second span just short of the halfway point of the period and were the final scoring plays on the night as the Gulls took home a 7-0 victory.

SERIES NOTES:

  • The two teams met for the 15th time Friday. Endicott now holds a 13-2 lead in the series.

NEXT UP:

  • The Leopards are right back at it tomorrow, as they take on the Gulls again in a 5:00 p.m. road matchup.
