BOSTON, Mass. – Senior forward Sam Milnes (Middletown, R.I.) of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's ice hockey team has been named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week. Milnes earns the award for games played from October 24-31.
In a 1-0 week for Wentworth, Milnes potted a hat-trick, including the eventual game-winner, and notched an assist in the team's season opening 5-1 win against Castleton on October 28. He also ripped six shots on goal.
Three goals already tops Milnes's career season-high goal total (2). Last season, Milnes added six assists to his two goals for a total of eight points and the black and gold's captain is a third of the way to matching his career season-high point total of 12 through just one game this season.
Wentworth is 1-0 this season and hosts a non-conference game against Skidmore on Tuesday night.
