HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • An early power-play opportunity led to Wentworth having three shot attempts, two of which went on target but were saved by sophomore Ryan Wilson (Shelton, Conn.). At the 4:31 mark, the Leopards broke through as sophomore Sean Brown (Seabrook, N.H.) tallied an unassisted marker. The Black & Gold held the lead through most of the remainder of the period until Endicott junior Andrew Kurapov (Corvallis, Ore.) netted a power-play goal with 1:33 left in the frame. Shots were even at 14-all through the first 20 minutes of play.
  • Sophomore George Weiner (Wayne, N.J.) had a shot blocked and a second one saved in the early part of the second period and this helped to set up freshman Nick Cullinan's (Sandy Hook, Conn.) goal 1:58 into the second period. Freshman Johnny Riggins (Bethpage, N.Y.) also picked up a helper on the goal. Kurapov netted his second of the game, tying the contest at 2-all at the 10:15 mark. Both teams had chances throughout the remainder of the period, however the game remained tied.
  • Just 60 seconds into the third period, the Gulls took the lead for good, with junior Connor Beatty putting a shot past junior Will Oliver (Chesterfield, Mo.). Wentworth went on a power play at the 15:08 mark and put two shots on goal, both of which were saved by Wilson. With 54 seconds left, the Leopards were able to clear the zone and Oliver was pulled for an extra attacker. After a face-off win by Endicott senior Connor Amsley (Carlisle, Pa.), he sealed the win with an empty-net goal.
  • Oliver made 37 saves in the contest, the fourth time this season has stopped 35 or more shots.

SERIES NOTES:

  • Today was the 21st all-time meeting between the two teams. Endicott leads 18-3.
