INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Gulls got the first goal of the game at the 2:13 mark, as Domenic Valera (Fitchburg, Mass.) scored for the visitors to put them ahead. After senior goalkeeper Jack Munroe (Mansfield, Mass.), who made 13 saves on the night, stopped Endicott from extending the lead, Wentworth drew even at 1-1 on a goal by sophomore attack Drew Bouley (Gloucester, Mass.), with senior midfielder Erik Madden (Center Tuftonboro, N.H.) picking up the assist. After another save by Munroe, the Gulls scored two goals 1:00 apart. Michael Hauptman (Medfield, Mass.) scored the first, and Domenic Russo (Northborough, Mass.), who scored four times on the night, picked up the latter goal. Endicott closed out the quarter on a 5-0 run, and Russo scored once more as the Gulls took a 6-1 lead into the second
  • After a shot by Madden was stopped, junior midfielder Calvin McKenna (Lake Tapps, Wash.) brought the Leopards closer with his 20th goal of the year, as Madden provided the assist to make it a 6-2 game. But minutes later, Hauptman and Russo scored a pair of goals 22 seconds apart, and Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) scored one of his four goals late in the period to extend the Endicott lead to 9-2 at the half.
  • Russo and Pagluiso kept it up in the third, each scoring a goal early to push the lead to nine goals for the visitors. Just past the midway point of the quarter, Madden scored his second of the day and 29th of the year off an assist from Bouley to make it an 11-3 score. But the Gulls came back with two more goals before the end of the quarter, and despite a late goal from McKenna with 38 seconds left, Wentworth trailed 13-4 going into the fourth quarter.
  • Endicott outscored the Leopards 4-1 in the final 15 minutes, including two more goals by Pagluiso and Hauptman. The Leopards finally broke through in the final minute, as Bouley scored his second of the night with 16 seconds remaining, but Endicott claimed a 17-5 victory to finish out the regular season.
