Gardner, Kroll Claim CCC Weekly Awards

BEVERLY, Mass. – After two thrilling overtime wins over Hartford and Curry last week, two student-athletes of the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team earned recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference office Tuesday afternoon. Junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) was named CCC Defensive Player of the Week and freshman Brendan Kroll (Wakefield, R.I.) was named CCC Rookie of the Week. Gardner earns his third award from the CCC this season while Kroll notched his second. The awards are for games played April 8-14.

In a 2-0 slate for Gardner, the junior totaled 24 saves across two wins that required extra time. The West Windsor, N.J. native recorded an 8.00 goals against average and a 63 percent save percentage.

Kroll proved to be the hero against Hartford, scoring five goals with the fifth proving to be the game-winner in the fourth overtime period, helping cap the Leopards' longest game in program history.

Wentworth is 10-4 this season, 2-2 in CCC action, and hosts Gordon on Sweeney Field today at 4:00 p.m.
