BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Connor Charron (Tewksbury, Mass.) set a program record within a season as his six ground balls and dominance at the X continued to help the Wentworth Institute of Technology men's lacrosse team (11-4, 3-2 CCC) Tuesday afternoon, this time in an 11-8 edging of conference foe Gordon (4-9, 0-5 CCC).

Charron's six scoops pushed his season total to 134, setting a new program-high across any one season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Senior John Flemmi (Braintree, Mass.) gave Gordon a 1-0 edge at the 14:18 mark of the opening frame before the Leopards took a 2-1 edge by the 8:40 mark on goals by sophomore Colin Ocampo (Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.) and junior Kobi Buffa (Craryville, N.Y.). The Fighting Scots regained their one-goal lead with two goals by 6:15 mark before the Leopards knotted the score with 5:28 left in the frame.
  • Sophomore Jackson Wright (Cazenovia, N.Y.) gave the visitors a 4-3 lead just over two minutes into the second quarter before Wentworth took a 5-4 lead by the 11:03 mark on goals by Buffa and sophomore Jake Caraluzzi (Brookfield, Conn.). Wright, Flemmi, and senior Marco Fernandez (Fishkill, N.Y.) all tallied for Gordon by the 1:28 mark to give them a 7-5 lead at the halfway mark.
  • The Leopards rallied back in the third frame, taking a 9-7 lead on four straight tallies, with two goals by freshman Brendan Kroll (Wakefield, R.I.) along with others by freshman Gabe Cobham (Westbury, N.Y.) and senior Drew Bouley (Gloucester, Mass.).
  • Kroll extended Wentworth's lead to 10-7 just under 1:30 into the fourth quarter before Flemmi brought Gordon back within two with a tally at the 8:38 mark. However, Cobham solidified the Leopards' lead with his second of the game at the 4:38 mark to help Wentworth clinch an 11-8 win over the Fighting Scots.
  • Junior Tom Gardner (West Windsor, N.J.) made 15 saves en route to his 11th win of the season. Charron led the Leopards at the X yet again, going 14-for-23 with six ground balls.
