BOSTON, Mass. – Four different players scored goals for MIT – including freshman Sean Bingham (Garden City, N.Y.) who also added an assist – as the Engineers remained unbeaten (4-0-0) on the season with a 4-0 win over Wentworth.
The visitors got the only goal they would need at the 11:41 mark as Bingham sent a pass to sophomore Chester Chambers (Columbia, Md.) how hit a low shot to the left side.
Bingham began a three-goal second half to MIT when he scored a header off a junior Matthew Monheit (Abington, Pa.) cross at 59:10. Less than eight minutes later the Enigneers made it a 3-0 game when senior Chris Hammond (Wilmington, Del.) connected on a direct kick to the hight left side from 23 yards out. At 71:52 sophomore Nick Diamantoni (Bell Mead, N.J.) closed out the scoring when he broke through the Leopard defense.
Sophomore Samuel Cannon (Scarsdale, N.Y.) picked up the win for the Engineers as he made three saves in 81:28. Freshman Jake Amereno (Commack, N.Y.) played the final 8:32 without needing to make a save. Wentworth senior John Longo (Needham, Mass.) made seven saves in the loss. MIT held a 24-10 shot advantage.
The Engineers travel to Brandeis on Sunday afternoon, while Wentworth (0-3-1) hosts Mass. Maritime on Wednesday evening.
