BOSTON, Mass. – Junior Thomas Chuaqui (El Cerrito, Calif.) scored the game's only goal and freshman Matthew Mueller (Chevy Chase, Md.) made four saves as the Emerson College men's soccer team defeated Wentworth Institute of Technology, 1-0, in non-conference men's soccer action Tuesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Despite an early corner kick by Emerson, Wentworth had the first scoring chance when junior Jacob Dukeshire (Nashua, N.H.) put a shot on goal in the third minute of play. Back-to-back corner kicks by the Lions did not yield any scoring chances and, in the 29th minute, senior Paolo Ruggieri (Canton, Mass.) had a shot attempt that was saved by Mueller.
  • In the 54th minute, junior Liam Nasr (Nashua, N.H.) made a save off a header in front that came from a free kick.
  • Chuaqui's goal came when Hugo Berville (Paris, France) sent a pass across the box. Chuaqui collected the ball and sent a shot to the lower right corner.
  • The Lions nearly went ahead 2-0, however, a Wentworth defender cleared the ball off the line at the last second.
  • Nasr made five saves for Wentworth.

THE SERIES:

  • Tonight was just the fourth all-time meeting between the two teams. Wentworth leads, 3-1.
