HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • MIT Had three chances that went wide of the mark early on before setting up a scoring chance in the 16th minute. After a corner kick, senior Richter Brzeski (Los Angeles, Calif.) evaded a defender and sent a cross from the near side. Classmate Will Seiple (Boulder, Colo.) put home a shot from the far side to the lower middle.
  • The Engineers put a pair of shots on net including one in the 34th minute, and, at the 34:43 mark, Robinson scored when he dribbled around a Leopard defender and put a shot inside the upper right corner.
  • Robinson gave the Engineers a 3-0 lead when he took a pass from senior Rami Bikdash (Oak Ridge, N.C.) and took a shot that was initially tipped by Leopard freshman Tristan McDonough (Bridgewater, Mass.) but found the back of the net.
  • Wentworth nearly got on the board in the 63rd minute when a foul occurred in the box and the Black & Gold were awarded a penalty kick. However, senior TJ Prouty (Glendora, Calif.) was unable to connect. The hosts made it a 3-1 game just over seven minutes later when a foul occurred outside the box and sophomore Raphael Ribeiro (Medford, Mass.) knocked in a curling direct kick to the upper left corner.
  • With 4:27 left, the hosts cut the lead to 3-2. Ribeiro served a free kick towards the box. Junior Jordon Smith (Dorchester, Mass.) put a shot on net which was saved and Prouty knocked home the rebound.
  • Ribeiro nearly tied it in the 87th minute when his shot attempt hit the crossbar.
  • McDonough made five saves in his collegiate debut. MIT held a 20-12 shot advantage and a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.

THE SERIES:

  • Tonight marked the 26th all-time meeting between the two teams. MIT leads, 17-7-2.
