HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth's first scoring chance of the game came in the seventh minute when junior Jacob Dukeshire (Nashua, N.H.) took a shot off a free kick that went wide. However, the Leopards connected less than 30 seconds later when sophomore Raphael Ribeiro (Medford, Mass.) served a corner kick towards the box where senior TJ Prouty (Glendora, Calif.) gained possession and put home a shot to the lower left corner.
  • In the 21st minute, Nichols had a shot attempt blocked which resulted in a corner kick. Off the set piece, the Bison had a shot blocked out of bounds which resulted in another corner kick but were not able to generate a scoring chance.
  • Nichols put a pair of shot on net in the 23rd minute that was saved by senior Louis Quintero (Boston, Mass.) and Leopard sophomore Christopher Jimenez (Doral, Fla.) hit the crossbar in the 28th minute of play. At the 29:42 mark, the Bison tied the game when, after a foul in the box, Phillips stepped up and connected on the penalty kick attempt.
  • In the waning seconds of the first half, Dukeshire put a shot on target, however, sophomore Franco Barreto Santana (Leominster, Mass.) came up with the save, keeping the score tied at the break.
  • Ribeiro had a shot blocked 22 seconds into the second half and freshman Sam Wong's (Quincy, Mass.) attempt off the rebound was high of the net.
  • At the 53:56 mark, Ribeiro collected his second assist of the contest when he served a corner kick to Edwin, Jr., who put home a shot to the upper right, gibing Wentworth a 2-1 lead.
  • With 18:15 left and Nichols applying pressure, Quintero came up with a diving stop off a deflection to keep Wentworth ahead, 2-1. Nichols was fouled just outside the box with under 15 minutes remaining. Off the direct kick, the shot sailed just over the crossbar.
  • Edwin put another shot on net in the 84th minute that was saved at the last second and sent out of the offensive zone. With 2:40 left, Nichols had a bid right in front that Quintero turned away and, Quintero came up with another huge save.
  • Salamon put home the game-tying goal to the lower right after Phillips' initial bid was saved by Quintero.
  • Quintero made six saves for Wentworth. Nichols had a 23-18 shot advantage and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
