HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Wentworth wasted little time getting on the board, scoring at the 3:34 mark of the contest. Ribeiro served a corner kick across the box where senior Erik Treble (Massapequa Park, N.Y.) flicked the ball to classmate Eddie Smith (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) who one-timed a shot into the lower left corner of the net.
  • Ribeiro collected his second assist of the contest when he served a corner kick to Treble, who headed it home at the 16:56 mark.
  • After a foul on UMass Boston, Ribeiro took the direct kick from outside the box and found the lower left corner to make it 3-0 at the 57:05 mark.
  • The Leopards increased their lead to 4-0 with just under 20 minutes left in the game as junior Caleb Robbins (Mystic, Conn.) caused a turnover and fed senior TJ Prouty (Glendora, Calif.), who put home a shot from the top of the box.
  • The Beacons nearly broke the shutout in the 85th minute when a shot on a breakaway ricocheted off the post. However, UMass Boston did get on the board with 3:23 left when freshman Denis Pecherskiy (Newton, Mass.) scored off a header pass from junior Josh DeAlmeida (Revere, Mass.).
  • Freshman Giovanni Ruggieri (Canton, Mass.) made three saves in the win. Wentworth had a 13-11 shot advantage and a 7-3 edge on corner kicks.

THE SERIES:

  • Wentworth broke into the win column in the all-time series, winning for the first time in eight series meetings. UMass Boston leads, 7-1.
