HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • In the 10th minute of play, Wentworth had its first chance of the night as Leopard sophomore Nick Lenz (Danbury, Conn.) put a shot on net. Just over a minute and a half later, the Leopards took a 1-0 lead, thanks to sophomore Raphael Ribero's (Medford, Mass.) fifth tally of the season. A throw-in deep in the Nor'Easters end by junior Nile Keiller (Bowie, Md.) gave possession to Ribeiro who fired a shot to the upper middle of the net at 10:37.
  • The Leopards wasted little time taking a 2-0 lead, scoring just 59 seconds later. Junior Jacob Dukeshire (Nashua, N.H.) crossed the ball across the field to sophomore Owen Jacinto (Methuen, Mass.). Jacinto sent a long pass towards the box where senior Augustin Edwin, Jr. (New Bedford, Mass.) headed the ball inside the left corner.
  • Wentworth continued to apply pressure, putting five shots on net in an eight-minute span, however, UNE sophomore keeper Ollie Hammond (Waitsfield, Vt.) came up with five saves, keeping it a 2-0 game.
  • The Nor'Easters cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal at 28:36. Freshman Nick Reffel (Holliston, Mass.) took a shot which was saved by senior Louis Quintero (Boston, Mass.). The rebound squirted away from Quintero to senior Brendan Crichton (Beverly, Mass.) who put a shot home.
  • Both teams had scoring chances in the second half, and, with 32 seconds left, UNE had one last bid at tying the game, however, the shot went wide,
  • Quintero made a pair of saves for Wentworth, which had decided advantages in shots (23-8) and corner kicks (9-3).

THE SERIES:

  • Winners of the last two series meetings, Wentworth holds an all-time series lead of 17-3-4, including a 10-1-1 mark on Sweeney Field.
