WENHAM, Mass. – A late goal by junior Cole Levis (Newton Square, Pa.) in the 82nd minute lifted the Gordon Fighting Scots men's soccer team over the Wentworth Institute of Technology by a 2-1 score in conference action Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Gordon got on the board early in the first half as two shots within ten seconds of one another resulted in a tally by freshman Henry McElroy (Danville, Pa.) on the latter of the two at the 2:39 mark. The Fighting Scots held much of the momentum for the rest of the half, grabbing five corner kicks en route to a 1-0 lead at the half.
  • Wentworth began the second half rattling two shots off in just over a three-minute span, with the first being on goal by senior Nile Keiller (Bowie, Md.) and saved by freshman Hudson Bennett (Jacksonville, Fla.).
  • It wasn't long after the Leopards knotted the score as junior Christopher Jimenez (Doral, Fla.) tied the score on a goal assisted by freshman Zachary Redondo (Glassboro, N.J.) at the 62:27 mark.
  • After a shot by freshman Dylan Michaud (Hopkinton, Mass.) was saved, Gordon marched downfield, with graduate student George Coogan IV (Chattanooga, Tenn.) putting a shot on goal that was saved by senior Louis Quintero (Boston, Mass.). The rebound bounced out to junior Cole Levis (Newton Square, Pa.), who tapped in the go-ahead goal for the Scots at the 82:02 mark.
  • Gordon held on for the win, with Bennett making four saves. Quintero tallied one stop.
